What you burn doing nothing.

You sit, relax, and breathe into a mask for about 15 minutes. We measure the oxygen you use and the CO2 you breathe out and turn it into your real daily calorie baseline. No age formulas, no app estimates. $149, with a sauna and cold plunge session at Mohawk included.

What you get

  • Your measured resting metabolic rate: the calories your body burns in a day before you move.

  • How your RMR compares to what the standard formulas predict for you. Faster, slower or right on.

  • Whether you’re burning mostly fat or carbs at rest.

  • Daily calorie targets for fat loss, maintenance or building muscle, built off your number.

  • A sauna and cold plunge session at Mohawk when you’re done.

Why it matters

Every calorie app starts with a formula. The best of them, Mifflin-St Jeor, only lands within 10% of measured for some people, and it’s worse for groups that weren’t well represented in the research (Frankenfield et al., 2005). A 10% miss on a 1,800-calorie RMR is 180 calories a day. That’s the difference between losing and stalling.

Dieting changes your metabolism. After a long diet, RMR can drop more than weight loss alone explains (Trexler et al., 2014). If you’ve been eating less and nothing is moving, measuring is how you find out why.

For athletes, a low RMR is a warning sign. The IOC uses measured RMR compared to predicted as one of the markers of under-fueling, called REDs, which hurts performance, bones and hormones (Mountjoy et al., 2023).

Who it’s for

Anyone working on fat loss, body composition or building muscle. Anyone stuck on a plateau. Athletes in heavy training who want to know they’re eating enough. You don’t need to be a runner.

How to prep

12-hour fast: nothing but water. No caffeine. No strenuous workouts in the 24 hours before. Most people book first thing. Because it’s fasted, RMR gets its own visit, separate from the Baseline.

FAQ

Already booked the Baseline? Add RMR on a second visit for $99, with another sauna and cold plunge session.

How often should I retest? Every 12 weeks while you’re changing your diet or training. The Progress Membership includes it.

Is this the same as a body fat scan? No. It measures how much energy you burn, not what you’re made of. They pair well together.
